Our Team
After graduating from the University of Liverpool in 2011, Hamza gained experience in a variety of specialties working in both general practice and in various hospitals. He completed his MFDS qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2013.
He has since completed his specialist training in orthodontics and gained his M.Orth qualification from both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England. He has been awarded numerous prizes including the prestigious William Houston Gold Medal for the highest performance in the Edinburgh M.Orth examination in 2016-17. Furthermore, he gained a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Orthodontics from the University of Manchester.
In addition to working at the practice, Hamza also works as a consultant orthodontist in both Manchester Foundation Trust and Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. This allows him to undertake a variety of complex treatments, continue orthodontic research and teaching as honorary member of staff for the University of Manchester. Hamza holds various dental memberships including memberships with the British Dental Association, British Orthodontic Society and he has been invited to lecture nationally for various organisations.
Hamza has gained accreditation from Invisalign and Incognito to allow him to provide a wide variety of cosmetic orthodontic treatment options including lingual orthodontics and invisible aligner treatments
Ian completed his undergraduate degree in Dentistry at Sheffield University in 2002. He then spent 12 months in General Dental Practice, followed by 12 months in a General Dentistry role at Manchester Dental Hospital. Having subsequently gained 18 months experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, he went on to undertake 8 months of Paediatric Dentistry. In 2006, he then commenced 5 years of specialist Orthodontic training in the West Midlands. He returned to his northwest roots in 2011 to take up the position of Consultant Orthodontist and Clinical Lead for the Orthodontics and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department at the Trust.
Ian is an Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has been published in several peer review journals and has presented at different forums, including the British Orthodontic Conference. He is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer for the University of Liverpool and teaches Post-Graduate Dentists, who wish to become Specialist Orthodontists.
Ian is currently responsible for the Mersey Deanery Orthodontic Training Programme, and he recently gained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching at Edgehill University. His specialist interest is complex Orthodontics in which patients require adjunctive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Restorative Dentistry.
Sarah qualified in Dentistry from King’s College London in 2014. She subsequently worked in Yorkshire for four years in General Dental Practice, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Paediatric Dentistry and Special Care Dentistry posts before returning to the North West and starting her postgraduate training in Orthodontics at Liverpool. She completed her Membership in Orthodontics in 2021 from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Master of Dental Science from the University of Liverpool.
Following entry to the Orthodontic Specialist list in 2021, Sarah completed an additional two years of training to gain the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship in Orthodontics of the Royal College in 2023 and achieved consultant status. She is currently a Consultant Orthodontist at Liverpool University Dental Hospital and Warrington Hospital.
When not at work, Sarah enjoys keeping active through hiking, fitness classes and is currently in training for the Manchester Half Marathon. She also has a keen interest in sports, particularly cricket and football.
Sara qualified as a dentist with distinction from the University of Leeds. She gained further experience through a variety of hospital posts and completed her MFDS qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.
Sara then completed three years of specialist orthodontic training in the North East. As part of this training she undertook a Masters in Orthodontics at Newcastle University, graduating with distinction and she gained Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Sara is a member of the British Orthodontic Society and the British Dental Association.
In her spare time, Sara enjoys spending time with her husband and son and ticking everything off her to-do list.
